repetitive pattern ?

With this projects designs i have been looking into lace and the way the patterns repeat i think this would be a good design idea for our butterfly motif.

Starting point for brand development

I have started to look into the branding of your range. I have discovered that the key pointers to consider are ……

Brand image - fonts, images, logo and name.

Brand philosophy – what we stand for.

Brand tag line – easily recognisable as our brand.

These are the main elements that will be considered when forming our brand board.

Group meeting

Today we got together and discussed our initial ideas and route we would take with the home wear pieces. We have assigned an area to each member of the team to take away for the week and meet in a weeks time to see how the designs/research are taking place.

The designers:
Rory, Lara and Ashley - They are going to be designing and producing images of the homewear based on the butterfly motif we have created from the modip item.

The Promoters:
Holly and I (Michelle) - We will be working together to create the brand and market, we will separately have work to show but alot of our part of the project will be working together and researching.

As a team we will also be having regular meetings and giving encouragement and ideas to each other to move forward with the project.

The butterfly motif

I was able to create the butterfly motif by using a photograph of the napkin holder and using illustrator to trace the design.

Sketched ideas for print

Couloured print inspired by black n white square pattern on the wall tiles and floor in mood board. I thought to have kitchen wall tiles with all black butterfly pattern and use black n pink or a multicolour version of the pattern for the table cloth. For the napkin i thought to have the butterfly shape cut into 1 layer of the napkin in bottom corner and have the under layer a diff colour/pattern to the main napkin colour/pattern. I want to keep the feel of the 1950's napkin holder in the designs.

wonderful inspiration

Lara- these are some images i have sourced from the Aga and Cath Kidston sites they are just displaying lovely examples of textile accessories with in the kitchen/dining areas.

Kitsch 1950's Kitchen Mood Board

The group project

For our PPRD project we have to work in groups we have been given an object from Modip (Museum of design in plastics). Our teams object is a butterfly napkin holder.

The team objective is a team work challenge to create a product range off the back of the initial object, in our case the napkin holder.
As a team we need to show our evidence of work and we have decided to do this through a blog.
We will also create colour, market and brand boards around our research. We will finally show our finished illustration/ideas through a design board.
